In late sixteenth century Marwar, now known as Jodhpur in Rajasthan, the Rajput ruler, Raja Udai Sing had tailors produce paintings of the clothes they hoped to make for him - a bit like a current day couturiers drawing...
These clothes were particular as Sing was very large and known as 'Mota Raja' - or the fat king!
This vintage watercolour is said to be a reproduction of one of those paintings.
